As The We Agenda is just to put the people first, the question of what touches the people arises. One would ask are roads and bridges not affecting the people? They actually do, but the question would be “where do the roads lead? And to serve what purpose?
The village woman farming and hoping to sell off to Bush market vendors, “development as Road” simply means a path that she can leverage on for ease of transportation of her farm produce. Infrastructure is great, but it defeats the purpose when the people can not optimally leverage on infrastructure because of impediments of poor capacity as a people and a state.
When the agenda is about the people, institutions would be a “sure” path to economic advancement, because the people will learn to grow the economy, while the burden would be on the leadership to create policies that will accommodate them, this way young do not waste time for a promise with no sure evidence.
The people would want a state where business was not done only by the government, but local business people are active parts of economic growth. Development of institutions for the people, should work for and with the people.
A leadership that has invested in favourable conditions for small business owners, is a leadership that has put the people first. What good does a booming government economy do a small business owner who is fighting stringent policies, no power, no security, to name but a few
When a government can feel the pulse of its people, Healthcare becomes priority. The life of one is as the life of all, no body’s life is lesser. What is the essence of leading if your people are sickly and with no proper medical plan.
Why are hospitals cited when they cannot deliver on saving lives?
What would touch the people is the promise that the life of the elites are worth as much as that of the indigents. Proof of this would be health care plans, and intentional policies to afford the people access to healthcare.
The best gift we can leave our children,
Is a state that sees the people, hears the people, and puts the people first. Governance is at its best, when people come first.
The people should be able to afford a life with benefits for being citizens of the state. What would matter to the people would be their social security, through the show of leadership that invests directly to their wellbeing.
Criminals are rarely imported, and even when they are, someone lets them in. The people can keep the people safe, all it takes are systems that ensure communal surveillance and local intelligence.
When the community is involved in policing, there would be no place for criminals to hide, and the consequences of offending the people will be adhered. The agenda of the people ought to be the security of their common lives and properties.
When a state is at peace, it is desirable and attractive to investors. People who want to getaway from harsh climes seek communities that are fun to experience, with reach culture and lovely people.
What ought to matter to the people is that their society is primed and made desirable for travelers to come and experience the wealth of their heritage.
The people ought to have:
– Tourist Centres
– Cultural programs showcasing the people and the tribes.
